Social Connectedness in Mothers Who Experienced Infertility
Hi my name is Brennan Davis, and I am a PhD candidate in the Organizational and Community Leadership Program at the University of Oklahoma-Tulsa. I am so grateful that you have shown interest in participating in my dissertation research! For my dissertation I am examining how new mothers who experienced infertility describe their social relationships. To be the right fit for this particular study, you would need to fit the below requirements and be willing to complete two Zoom interviews. Eligibility Criteria:

Experienced Primary Infertility: Women who had no prior live births and had difficulty conceiving or sustaining a pregnancy to term.

Conceived via Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART): Women who conceived through either IVF, GIFT, ZIFT, or Gestational Surrogacy. For this study, it does not include other medical treatments such as IUI or pharmaceutical interventions.

Within Your First Two Years of Parenthood: Women who have a child who is younger than two years old.
Participant Tasks:

Two Zoom interviews discussing your journey to motherhood and your social relationships. Each interview will likely be around 60-90 minutes long.

Optional* opportunities to provide feedback on your interview transcripts

Optional* occasion to provide feedback on the researcher’s analysis

Participation is voluntary and information will remain confidential. This study has been approved by the University of Oklahoma IRB (#XXX).
Perinatal Resources
The National Maternal Mental Health Hotline:
New mothers can text or call the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline at 1-833-TLC-
MAMA (1-833-852-6262). The hotline provides 24/7 to new and expecting mothers support
from trained counselors.

Postpartum Support International
Provides a helpline for new mothers by phone at 1-800-944-4773. Mother may also utilize
Postpartum Support International’s Provider Directory to be connected to additional
professionals for support.

Resolve: The National Infertility Association
Resolve helps provide resources for women experiencing infertility. Their website can connect
women to providers or support groups in their area.

The 4th Trimester Project
The 4th Trimester Project connects new parents and professionals with resources and tools to
help support new mothers. Topics include mental health, relational support, as well as physical
recovery.

Suicide and Crisis Lifeline
The 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline provides a 24/7 hotline with call, text, and chat options to
connect new mothers to a trained counselor.
